Hastings Hotel Group Game Taster Day – 2014
‘Kill it, Cook it, Eat it, Experience it’
In September 2013 we were delighted to welcome all head chefs from the Hastings Hotel Group and Carnbrooke Meats. This was a 1 day event which was to promote and advertise our Wild and Home Reared seasonal game for the consumption of the Northern Irish markets, what better way to do so through the renowned Hastings Hotel Group and Carnbrooke Meats. The day started off with a hot breakfast in the Carriage House with a meet and greet session, followed by a short but informative talk on the Estate and its Seasonal Game. Everyone was whisked off in the ‘Gun Bus’ up to the quarry on Bessy Bell where a friendly but competitive clay pigeon shoot and target practice was enjoyed by all, some of whom had never held a gun before did a fabulous job! Lunch was well deserved after the activities – our very own Dawn Kee prepared ‘game taster platters’ which went down very well, followed by a buffet lunch. A visit to our EU approved Game Department was in order, meeting with Head Game Keeper, Steven Pollock to explain the strict processes and procedure we adhere to. To finish off the day the group was treated to a 30min tour of Barons Court House with a very knowledgeable Marie Christine Scott.
Bluebell Walks – 2014
Each year around May/June, carpets of Bluebells fill the Estate woodland’s. We love guests to come and explore them – we do this through organised annual Bluebell Walks with Cancer Focus Newtownstewart, and Gareth Austin, a horticulturist with BBC Radio Foyle. Usually the walk lasts around 3 hours and involves a stroll through the Estate highlighting the wild and cultivated delights around Lough Catherine. If you are interested in attending one of these walks, there is more information on our Facebook page.
REMEMBER – good footwear and waterproofs (just in case)
BASC Workshops – 2014
This year the BASC held their ‘Deer Stalking Certificate Level 1 Course’ at Baronscourt Estate. Utilising the Stable Yard, The Carriage House, and other Estate facilities they were here for 4 days – we are delighted to say that everyone passed!
LandRover Experience Days – May 2014
We have had yet another successful 4 days at Baronscourt with the super knowledgeable and lovely Scottish LandRover Experience Team all the way from Dunkeld, Scotland. The 4 days consisted of the same 2 dealerships a last year, taking 2 days each and inviting their clients along for 1/2 day sessions. The Carriage House in the Stable Yard was in full use throughout the week hosting, registrations, breakfast, lunch and the all important home baked goods. This year we had the most wonderful display for a full fleet of white vehicles – they looked even better once they had been off road. Each clients and their guest were able to choose 1 or 2 vehicles of their preference and experience go out onto the Estate and experience the terrain of Bessy Bell and Forestry Tracks. A bit of fun was had up in the quarry on Bessy Bell with some clay pigeon shooting provided by Tommy Maine, an experience coach at BASC. We have been delighted with the feedback from both the clients and the dealerships – it is always a pleasure to have you at Baronscourt and we look forward to welcoming you back next year!
LandRover Experience Days – 2013
In September 2013, Baronscourt Estate hosted 4 very enjoyable LandRover Experience Days with the very skilled LandRover Experience Team all the way from Dunkeld, Scotland. The 4 days consisted of 2 major car dealerships in Northern Ireland taking 2 days each and inviting their clients along for 1/2 day sessions. The Carriage House in the Stable Yard was in use throughout the event, hosting breakfast and home made scones for the morning attendees, and lunch and home made short bread for the afternoon clients. Off road driving was of course the main aspect of the 4 days, choosing 1 or 2 vehicles of your preference and experiencing the wonderful and undulating terrain of Bessy Bell and Forestry Tracks around the Estate. A bit of fun was had by all afterwards down on the front lawn of Barons Court House – archery and target shooting.
